My Workout Templates

If you know your chest day, you should not have to build it again every week. My Workout Templates — card 3 on Programs — is the list of workouts you can drop onto today in one tap.

There is nothing to create. Perform a workout and it appears here on its own. Open one and you see the exercises, sets, reps and weights you actually used.

Until you have trained anything, the list is empty and offers Create today’s workout instead.

TemplateWhat, with no when.
Today’s workoutWhat I am doing right now.

A template carries no date and is never “due”. It sits there until you want it.

Open a template and you get a preview, then:

  • Use as is — it becomes today’s workout, as written.
  • Adjust first — it opens in the editor before you start.
  • If today already holds a workout, the button reads Swap today for this instead. That is refused once you have logged anything against today.

Picking a template copies it onto today. It does not link to it. So everything you change during the session — a heavier top set, one fewer exercise — changes today, and the template stays exactly as you left it.

After a session that came from a template and was changed, you are asked “Update My Chest Workout?”. That is the only thing that writes back to it.

Open a template and choose to edit it, and you get the template editor — its own screen, which edits the template and nothing else. Changing a template never touches a session you have already trained, and never touches today unless you repeat it onto today afterwards.

The bin on a row takes the workout off this list.

  • A template you saved leaves My Workout Templates for good. Workouts you already trained from it stay in your history, and nothing you logged is lost.
  • A past session offered here leaves the list, but the session itself stays in your History with everything you logged on it. It just stops being offered.

Either way you are asked to confirm first.

A workout you started building and left empty is collected under “N unfinished workouts — nothing in them yet”, folded away at the bottom. Open that to finish one or delete it. Empty workouts are never suggested to you and never ranked, so they cannot clutter the chooser.

  • In the chooser on Today’s workout, when nothing is planned.
  • On a trainer’s client profile, where Choose a workout for … offers the client’s own past workouts and templates alongside the trainer’s — see Build a workout program.
